Putting local people in the driving seat – our next City Strategy
Sheffield First Partnership (SFP) has been working with local people to develop the next City Strategy, which will set out the city’s ambitions and how these will be achieved over the next five years.
To ensure that all local people have been given the opportunity to identify their aspirations and concerns, we have:
- Distributed information/feedback cards around Sheffield.
- Commissioned a series of focus groups/workshops with hard to reach community groups including: young women; small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); new arrivals and disabled people.
- Held an interactive event at the City Hall.
- Invited community groups to attend workshops at the SFP Board meetings.
The outcomes of work already carried out by other agencies will also be incorporated into the findings.
We are now coming to the end of the first phase and are in the process of compiling feedback from the different strands of work undertaken to date. This feedback will be used to shape the draft ambitions which will be tested with thematic partnerships, partner management teams, scrutiny and the SFP Board during late January/February. Discussions will then be held with partners and services to make sure that we can deliver against the ambitions.
The third and final phase is about making commitments to what will change over the coming five years as a result of the new strategy.
