Kids Can Do Programme

Sheffield City Council’s ‘Kids Can Do’ programme for 8-13 year olds is back for a second year of fun.  This means an even bigger and better programme of out of school activities, delivering arts & crafts, sport & play, music & media, culture & heritage and environmental activities across the city – and with every session free of charge.

Eleven organisations - coordinating over 60 providers mainly from the voluntary/community sector - will lead the year round delivery which will peak over the school holidays and run until next April.

Details of some of the providers are as follows:

Eventus – consortium of five voluntary sector arts providers that will deliver a range of arts activities across the city, with some provision particularly targeting children with special needs and learning difficulties.

Parks & Countryside with Sheffield Wildlife Trust – a partnership that offers environmental activities at a range of sites across the city.  Children will be encouraged to make more use of parks, open spaces and woodlands in their area and to increase awareness of play opportunities in a natural environment.

Sheffield Youth Consortium, managed by ZEST, consists of 20 providers from around the city, offering a range of locally accessible activities.

To find out what activities are taking place visit the Ask Sid website or telephone 0114 2756699.

Finally, the programme also includes a small revenue and capital grants scheme aimed at voluntary and community groups or clubs working with young people aged 8 to 13 years old.  Groups wishing to apply for grants should contact Sheffield City Council’s Voluntary Sector Liaison Team on 0114 2734113 or email vslt@sheffield.gov.uk.
