Entrepreneurs celebrate BiG achievements

Over 80 entrepreneurs from the region attended a special event to celebrate their contribution and achievements in supporting Sheffield’s future generation of entrepreneurs and hear about how they can support the BiG Challenge in schools in 2010.

The event, marked the end of a successful academic year for the Entrepreneur Exchange, part of the BiG – Make it your Business programme - which encourages local entrepreneurs to get involved in sharing their experience and helping inspire and support the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

Michelle Mason from the Entrepreneur Exchange explains: “We’ve had a great year and the programme is making such a huge difference to young people in stimulating their interest in becoming entrepreneurs and in supporting those in the local community who are looking at setting up their own businesses.  We have lots of exciting opportunities already for local business people to get involved with schools and neighbourhoods and are looking forward to the continued support of this region’s entrepreneurs.”

Working with schools, entrepreneurs can share their knowledge and experience with students working in small groups or can mentor student teams taking part in enterprise competitions such as The BiG Challenge, bringing vital, real life experience and practical help  into the classroom.

Entrepreneurs who choose to work within the neighbourhoods can offer crucial one-to-one support and guidance to a pre-start or early stage business, talking through business ambitions and sharing their own experiences.
