Decent Homes Landmark
One of Sheffield First Partnership’s Big Ambitions is for ‘Every neighbourhood to be a successful neighbourhood’, which means creating areas of the city where people want to live.
The Partnership’s work includes improving the quality of homes and spaces already on offer.
Over 21,000 homes throughout Sheffield have now been improved through the Decent Homes programme that aims to bring all Council housing up to the Government’s Decent Homes standard. Residents have had a variety of work completed to improve the quality of their homes which could include fitting new kitchens, bathrooms, heating and electrical upgrades, some external works, insulation and the installation of UPVC windows and doors.
So far 17,351 bathrooms, 17,065 kitchens, 78,000 windows and 26,313 new doors have been fitted. This is a huge undertaking bringing real improvements to individuals lives.
Over £700 million will eventually be invested making Sheffield’s Decent Homes programme the biggest in the country.
