Volunteering Together Event, 10 October 2009
The aim of this event was to encourage younger and older people to work together in volunteering.
Our target audience was:
- Older people who might like to become more involved in what's happening in Sheffield.
- Younger people who are interested in trying out new activities.
- Organisations who are working with younger or older people who would like to be involved in volunteering.
Over 20 exhibitors and displays attended on the day to promote volunteering including: the Praise Pod; Red Cross; Activity Sheffield; The Samaritans; Sheffield 50+ and Voluntary Action Sheffield.
The Aiming High dancers, along with MC Nige were there to help draw in the crowds and contributed to the success of the event.
Feedback
To date we have received some very positive feedback from exhibitors. David Green of CSV-RSVP Yorkshire said:
"For us it was a great success in that we have 7 probables and 3/4 possibles; well over our average rate for this type of event."

Case studies
We asked five volunteers about why they became involved in volunteering. Read their full case studies to find out about the satisfaction, and other rewards, they get from helping others.
