The purpose of Sheffield First Environment Partnership is to deliver the Environment Strategy for Sheffield and ensure Sheffield’s ambition to become a low carbon, sustainable city is realised. Our objectives for 2009-2010 are to:
- Reduce carbon emissions and have a clear plan of action agreed with partners.
- Raise awareness of climate change adaptation and climate change mitigation.
- Influence behavioural change to reduce Sheffield’s carbon emissions.
- Enhance and sustain the quality of green and open spaces through a clear strategy and programme of action.
Generally, members of the Environment Partnership board are at Director / Senior Manager level or equivalent and therefore able to speak for their organisations without having to report back or seek guidance.
The board meets bi-monthly and in public, in the Town Hall, Sheffield - see the list of meeting dates. The board receives quarterly reports on progress from each of the working groups – Climate Change Adaptation, Low Carbon, Green & Open Spaces and Environmental Quality and Communication.
The board is accountable to the main Sheffield First Partnership board and each board member is accountable through their own organisation.
The governance of the board is in accordance with the Governance of Sheffield First Partnership board, following the recommendations of the 2008 review.
